explain why you chose the idea you're taking forward and any changes you'd make after feedback (500 words)
I chose to take forward my idea of a good and bad interview to show the differences in what can lead to a good or bad outcome. From my SWOTS I can see that this idea was better than my other two ideas as it is more visual than the top tips video and easier to film and ‘carry out a message without getting lost in the comedy’ which could have been possibly been an issue for an ‘interview devil’ video. I will film the bad interview and cut to a piece of paper where the interviewer writes down what the interviewee is doing wrong, for example, when the interviewee answers a question with inappropriate slang it will say that on the paper. By doing this, it will allow me to show why it is a bad interview and what makes it bad. Therefore, it will be more visual than the tips video, which would have also shown what makes a good interview. Even though the interview devil would have been ‘unique’ and ‘comedic’, which would have kept the audience interested, it would have relied on comedy and would have had to have been carried out in a particular way that I couldn’t have portrayed as easily as adding slight comedy to my good and bad interview. However, from my SWOT feedback, I also found out that my video is ‘Similar to other people in class - make sure to film so that the video is unique’. Due to this, I changed my idea from seeing the interviewee being poorly dressed and using slang, which I then would have explained as being bad afterwards before I cut to the good interview, to now cutting to the paper explaining it so that you can see it whilst the interview is going on. I will then show the improvements made from the bad interview when the interviewer writes down ‘bad posture’ etc. I will make sure that my video isn’t boring and instead is comedic by making sure that it still has some comedic features such as the way the interviewee is in the bad interview. For example, the inappropriate language used will be over the top as well as instead of shaking the interviewers hand at the end the interviewee will try to spud the interviewer to show that things that everyone does everyday can be inappropriate in certain situations. My use of cutting to the piece of paper during the interview to demonstrate what is wrong with what the interviewee is doing is unique and will therefore make my video distinctive from the rest of the class. This is because most people in the class will aim to write any of the differences from a good and bad interview in a shot that has been written digitally, whereas, in comparison to the idea of writing it while I’m editing it, I will film myself writing it on a piece of paper which will add individuality.
